I offer a strengths-based approach combined with motivational interviewing and the Stages of Change Model guides your treatment. A variety of therapies and offerings may be utilized to help you improve your quality of life. If necessary, the linkage to Inpatient Treatment Programs and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs will be made when a higher level of care is identified.
As a mental health professional with over twenty years of experience I understand the importance of working with your physician or other professionals, as needed, to ensure open communication and a collaborative approach to your treatment.
Individual Therapy
It is my goal to help patients create and utilize healthy coping skills to ensure they can approach stressful situations with confidence, calmness, and clarity. Customized and confidential individual therapy can be utilized in conjunction with other forms of therapy including group therapy or couples therapy. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I work to provide unbiased feedback and help clients develop healthy boundaries and communication skills they can use in their personal and professional relationships.
Group Therapy
Shaw Counseling Services creates and administers specialized group therapy sessions focusing on the common needs of clients, so that together they can find common ground and healing. We learn best from each other - by sharing experiences, so it is my belief that together we can work to achieve great things.

Shaw Counseling Services is located in Dr. James' office building across from Alfonzo's Pizzeria in Troy, Illinois. Office hours are flexible including evenings and Saturdays.
